Santhigiri Ashram was founded by Navajyothisree Karunakara Guru about 45 years ago with a three-pronged mission: ensure food security for the masses, take care of their health needs and raise their spiritual awareness. These noble endeavours - translated into Sanskrit as Annadanam, Athurasevanam and Atmabodhanam - have resulted in Santhigiri Ashram being recognised as a Social, Scientific & Industrial Research Organization by the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
Various institutions and units in the field of health, education, agriculture, cottage industries, environment and biodiversity protection, women empowerment, social and scientific research etc are being run under the aegis of the ashram. Besides generating income for the ashram’s charitable activities, these units offer valuable services to the community.
The portals of the Ashram are open to all people-irrespective of race, religion, caste, creed or gender. Based on the sacred bond of the Guru-Disciple relationship, the Ashram rises above hardbound traditional scriptures, rites and rituals to individually guide each person in his/her quest for spiritual fulfillment.
